This project focuses on the identification of protective factors in Otitis media and the development of a probiotic treatment for recurrent acute otitis media.
This is a multidisciplinary project funded by the Telethon New Children’s Hospital Research Fund and the Chief Investigator is A/Prof Chris Peacock.
It aims to identify bacterial factors that help protect children against the establishment of the pathogens that cause acute otitis media, one of the most common causes of antibiotic use and surgery in young children.
We have received additional seed funding to examine both the host and pathogen transcriptome for this disease. We have collected an important sample resource and are also developing additional collaborations with researchers in Queensland.
